This typical Italian lounge chair communicates simplicity through cut shapes and a slender base that is so characteristic of armchairs from the 1950s.

Design

The design of the exceptionally comfortable body of the chair is clearly based on the traditional shape of lounge chairs where the feet were often not visible and were whether or not provided with a skirt. The obvious parts such as the side panels and seat clearly show the transition from that traditional chair to a modern variant. Marco Zanuso with his well-known lady chair is a good example of this.

Yet this exemplar has an Arflex-like feeling because the proportions are deliberately kept a little off and then compensated with a certain line or angle. That is perhaps the peculiarity of this type of design and maybe also the reason why this model is popular again.

Condition

The chair has been completely reupholstered in an ocher-colored velvet fabric and stands on an original frame of brass legs that are colored black with heavily patinated brass socks."
