David Marshall is a true glass artist, craftsman and a master of the far églomisé. This is a technique used in glass decoration in which a drawn or gilded image is applied to the underside of the glass and then covered with a gold or silver metal foil on the back.

Design

This beautiful post-modern mirror really pops and will immediately stand out in your interior due to its beautiful size and hysterical use of gold leaf. The moment the light falls on this so-called sunburst mirror, the effect becomes even more dramatic. Marshall has subtly shadowed the shield buttons in his drawing.
We say shield buttons because it is obvious that Marshall is imitating a Greek shield with this work, at that time often decorated with a key pattern that we have seen in popular culture, being for instance appropriated by Versace. Sun rays or a combination of the two were also often depicted on Hellenistic shields.
The mirror casts a small shadow all around because the edge protrudes slightly further than the round plate on which it is mounted. On top of that, of course, comes the wonderful play of the patinated gold, which results in an opulent and slightly hedonistic appearance.

Condition

This piece is signed "David Marshall" on the outer edge and its condition of the mirror is very good.

This bar is amazing. Beautiful and exactly as described. A custom crate (which was a work of art itself) was built in order to ship the piece to the U.S. The bar arrived in perfect condition without a scratch. I will say that take the crate apart was not easy and was a two-person job. But worth it in the end
